MFA of Kyrgyzstan forces its embassies to meet informal delegations

Diplomats are forced to meet Kyrgyzstanis who arrive in foreign countries and are not members of official delegations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan sends letters to the embassies with a demand to organize a meeting of arriving compatriots.

As it became known to 24.kg news agency, another such letter was received by the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in South Korea. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs asks to organize a meeting at the airport for officers who came to study there. The embassy officials consider this inexpedient.

«We should organize meetings for high-ranking officials, but not for all visitors. Quite another matter if they are children from low-income families. Why should we spend the money and resources on a meeting of all Kyrgyz citizens who have come abroad?» diplomats ask.

Only gasoline costs amount to $ 60-80. Flowers, gifts are bought for more demanding guests, a red carpet is rolled out for them.

Once, the staff of the Kyrgyz Embassy in Malaysia had to meet the chairman of the Constitutional Chamber, who arrived at night. He had to fly back in the morning. He was offered to spend the night in a hotel, but the judge wanted to walk around the night Kuala Lumpur and see the twin towers. As a result, the embassy driver had first to meet the arrivals, return to the city, transport them through the night city in order the guests could see the sights, and return to the airport in the morning.
