Mirziyoyev permits tourists to take photos of Uzbekistan

Tourists were allowed to take photos and videos in Uzbekistan without restrictions, Fergana news agency reported.

According to the agency, the relevant resolution was signed on February 6 by the country’s president Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

According to the document, tourists can freely take photos of public places, buildings and structures. The only exception is the objects included in the special list that has not been published yet.

«Previously, the media told about «photophobia» of the Uzbek authorities. Anyone with a camera could be approached by a policeman and demanded to delete the photos. At the same time, the policemen referred to a list of secret objects, which itself was secret. Tashkent had a city instruction on the photography restrictions. In 2007, it was canceled, but in 2015 it was revived,» the agency reports.
