The general contractor of the reconstruction of a hippodrome in Cholpon-Ata for the first World Nomad Games in 2014 was convicted. Office of the Bishkek City Court informed 24.kg news agency.
According to it, the head of Temir Tank LLC Erkin Mergenbaev was sentenced to six years in prison with confiscation of property. He was found guilty of smuggling and evasion of customs duties.
In 2014, the company headed by Erkin Mergenbaev received an order for construction of the hippodrome. Later, he accused the state of refusing to pay for the work done.
According to the Interior Ministry, Erkin Mergenbaev imported in the republic plastic seats for a large sum in 2014, concealing the goods from customs control, without paying fees to the budget. According to preliminary data, the damage amounted to more than 1,570,000 soms.
