Kyrgyzstan has no concept of “tourist zone”

There is no concept of a tourist zone in Kyrgyzstan. This was announced today in the Parliament.

Deputies are considering amendments to three codes — housing, administrative and on violations. The bill gives citizens the opportunity to profit from the use of their living quarters in an apartment building as hotels located in tourist areas.

One of the deputies interested about the criteria for determining the tourist zones. Officials responded that there is no concept of the tourist zone in the country, so one should consider the entire territory of the republic.

«Tourist zones are Sary-Chelek, Issyk-Kul, Son-Kul, Arslanbob, and there are no multi-storey houses. I support: one should consider the entire territory of the KR. But I’m against hourly rent of apartments. Before giving  apartments in rent, owners must obtain the consent of their neighbors. If people pay taxes, then, of course, we must create conditions,» MP Iskhak Pirmatov said.

Recall, Kyrgyzstan legalized a fine for renting apartments as daily hotels. The law was adopted by the deputies on November 16, 2016. The violation entails the imposition on citizens of a fine of seventy calculated indicators (7,000 soms), on officials — ninety (9,000 soms), on legal — seven hundred calculated indicators (70,000 soms).
