46 HIV diagnostic laboratories operate in Kyrgyzstan

There are 46 laboratories for the diagnosis of HIV infection in Kyrgyzstan. This was reported in the Republican AIDS Center.

According to it, as of November 1, the official number of HIV infected people was 7,804, AIDS patients — 916.

During the first 9 months of 2017, 603 HIV infected people were identified (359 men, 244 women). The largest number of people living with HIV was registered in Chui region (231), in Bishkek (108) and Jalal-Abad region (106), the lowest - in Naryn (26), Batken (21), Talas (12) ,

It is reported that the ways of HIV transmission have changed. In comparison with 2010, the sexual way of transmission increased from 33 percent to 56.2 percent in 2017. The parenteral route decreased from 59 percent in 2010 to 26.3 percent in 2017.

The main age of HIV-infected is 20-39 years (66 percent of the total).
