Textbooks on climate change will be presented to schoolchildren in , coordinators of the UNDP program «Environmental Protection for Sustainable Development» told.
According to the Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic Gulmira Kudaiberdiyeva, this training package is adapted specifically to the climate conditions in and will «give knowledge to our children exactly in our situation.»
«Climate box» in understandable form tells about climate change and its possible consequences in the form of entertaining stories, photographs, graphs, maps.
Reportedly, a team of authors, experts from various fields worked on the publication: climatologists, geographers, biologists, economists and professional children’s writers. A great contribution was made by experienced teachers who helped to develop recommendations for teachers on using the package at school.
For the first time, «climate box» was published in 2014 and was intended for Russian schoolchildren. In new project was launched to adapt the package for three countries of Central Asia — , and .
As the Senior Adviser on the programs of UNDP Resident Representative in Kyrgyzstan Erkinbek Kasybekov noted, the topic of climate change is one of the most important international problems. The consequences of climate change will be more seriously felt by developing countries, which are more vulnerable due to their high dependence on natural resources and their limited capacities.
All schools in the country will get the training packages.
