Residents of landslide-prone areas of Uzgen district to be resettled by court

Residents of landslide-prone areas in Uzgen district of Osh region will be resettled through court. The head of the district Olzhobay Osmonaliev told 24.kg news agency.

Recall, landslide killed 24 people in April 2017 in Ayu-Sai village of Zerger rural area of Uzgen district. After the tragedy, the government started resettling the villagers living in dangerous places.

According to the head of the district, they sued the residents (a total of 83 families) who voluntarily do not move from dangerous areas.

«We filed a lawsuit to the district court, because people under various pretexts do not leave landslide-prone areas, they just waste time,» Olzhobay Osmonaliev said.

As he told, a school, a road, electricity and water were built in the new village.

«The issue of mortgage lending has been resolved for construction of houses,» the head of the district said.

Olzhobay Osmonaliev noted that there are pastures for cattle in the new village.
