A rally against mining in the area of glaciers is being held neat the White House in Bishkek. Participants demand from the deputies of the Parliament to return the adopted amendments to the Water Code to the second reading.
«Today they want to adopt amendments in the third reading. Public hearings were not held. Therefore, we demand to return it to the second reading and take into account the opinion of citizens. Also, the Prosecutor General's Office must take actions. This is a corrupt bill,» Kalicha Umuralieva, head of Nashe Pravo (Our Right) NGO, said.
Earlier it was reported that amendments to the Water Code give opportunity in exceptional cases to develop deposits in the area of glaciers.
