Kyrgyzstanis demand from Kazakhstan to open border

Today ex-Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan Tursunbek Akun and his associates held a picket at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Bishkek.

According to him, many people support the protest. The participants demanded to resolve the situation on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border as soon as possible.

An ultimatum was voiced at the rally: if the Kazakh side does not open the borders by November 5 and does not start fulfilling the requirements of the Eurasian Economic Union, the protesters will ask the authorities of the Kyrgyz Republic to withdraw from EEU.

Tursunbek Akun also added that he reserves the right to appeal to OSCE and other international organizations.

Recall, since October 10, Kazakhstan has strengthened control on the sections of the Kazakh-Kyrgyz and Kazakh-Russian border. There are queues from heavy trucks leaving Kyrgyzstan at the checkpoints.

Yesterday it became known that Kazakhstan resumed delivery of coal to the Bishkek Heating and Power Plant. Two days before, six carriages arrived, and nine more — yesterday. Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Duishenbek Zilaliev informed about this at the session of the Parliament.
