Deputies approve writing-off of Kyrgyzstan's debt to Russia

The Parliament today in the third reading approved the bill on writing off the debt of Kyrgyzstan to Russia. The decision was made today at its meeting.

 All 94 deputies who participated in the voting supported the bill.

Recall, on June 20, 2017, during the state visit of Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev to Russia, a protocol to an agreement on settling Kyrgyzstan’s debt to Russia of $ 240 million in 2012 was signed. The approval of the protocol will reduce the level of public external debt to GDP by 3.8 percent.

The debt to Russia from gaining independence until 2012 amounted to $ 488.9 million. In 2013, $ 188.9 million was written off. A debt of $ 300 million was installed. For 2016-2017, $ 60 million was written off. We had $ 240 million left.

The bill was sent for signature to the president.
