The Central Election Commission of Kyrgyzstan stripped Omurbek Tekebayev of his deputy seat. The decision was made today at its meeting.
Members of the commission received recommendation of a CEC member Gulnara Jurabaeva and representatives of the MP that the lawyers of the convicted under the Article Corruption submitted a supervisory appeal to the Supreme Court against the verdict of the Bishkek City Court, according to which Tekebayev and ex-head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Duishenkul Chotonov received eight years in prison with confiscation of property.
The CEC, after hearing the information, decided to early terminate the powers of Omurbek Tekebayev. However, the vacant deputy mandate will not be handed over to another candidate on the list from Ata Meken party.
Earlier it was reported that the former chairman of the Accounts Chamber Iskender Gaypkulov should come in the Parliament instead of Tekebayev.
