Kumtor to be able to freely develop Davydov and Lysyi glaciers

The company Kumtor will be able to freely develop  Davydov and Lysyi glaciers. Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Duishenbek Zilaliev informed 24.kg news agency.

According to him, amendments to the Water Code, which are currently being considered by the Parliament, give opportunity to develop deposits on glaciers in exceptional cases. They are made in fulfillment of the instructions of the Parliament on ensuring the unhindered work of Kumtor. In addition, the Supreme Court ruled that work at the mine not to stop.

«There was a dispute between the Parliament and the initiators of the amendments. The government agreed with the deputies that it is impossible to permit the development on Sary-Tor glacier. But the work will continue on the glaciers Davydov and Lysyi. Especially considering the fact that almost nothing has left from them,» Duishenbek Zilaliev said.
