Ban on driving in Russia with Kyrgyz licenses submitted to State Duma

A bill prohibiting driving in Russia with Kyrgyz licenses was submitted to the State Duma. The initiator of the amendments is the vice speaker from LDPR Igor Lebedev.

«On October 26, Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev signed a decree renaming the October Revolution Day into the Days of the History and Memory of Ancestors, during the celebration of which one will honor the events of 1916 uprising against the Russian Empire. We believe that in connection with this unfriendly move by the Kyrgyz Republic, it is advisable to revise the decision taken earlier and, in particular, to extend the ban on driving vehicles on the basis of foreign national or international driving permits while carrying out entrepreneurial and labor activities,» Igor Lebedev explained.

In July, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law authorizing citizens of Kyrgyzstan to work in the Russian Federation on transport without having a Russian driver’s license.
