Discharge of water starts at Kirov reservoir in Kyrgyzstan

Discharge of water started at Kirov reservoir in Talas region of Kyrgyzstan. The Director of the Department of Water Resources and Land Reclamation Kokumbek Tashtanaliyev informed 24.kg news agency.

According to him, it was planned to start the dewatering the day before, however the water users of Manas district of Talas region asked to wait. A similar request was received from Zhambyl region of Kazakhstan.

Currently, the reservoir has about 30 million cubic meters of water. Water is planned to be discharged within 5-6 days. The repair will last 15 days. By April, the volume of reserves of the Kirov reservoir, according to the forecasts of the Department of Water Resources and Land Reclamation, will reach the project mark of 550 million cubic meters.

The message of the Ministry of Agriculture about carrying out repair-restoration works at object has coincided with toughening of the boundary control on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border.
