Kazakhstan strengthens control at border with Kyrgyzstan due to “gray” imports

Tighten control at the border of Kazakhstan with Kyrgyzstan was introduced as part of the fight against «gray» imports. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Information and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

«To date, an operation to strengthen the control of the Kazakh-Kyrgyz section of the state border is being conducted in a planned manner. The control is carried out within the framework of the implementation of the EEU legislation with a view to reducing the volume of «gray» imports,» the ministry said.

According to the ministry, for the last day of the 131 vehicles checked, 13 vehicles had gross violations.

It is a question of exceeding the weight-size parameters, the absence of the Kazakhstan permit form and other violations. In total, for the above violations, fines were imposed in the amount of 285,000 tenge ($ 850).

One passenger bus is placed on a parking lot due to a lack of permission for regular passenger transportation.

According to the ministry, the search revealed violations of customs legislation, namely the unreliable declaration of more than 60 tons of consumer goods. One criminal case was instituted, five more at the stage of administrative proceedings, the customs value is being determined for the rest.

The ministry’s message also informed about strengthening veterinary and phytosanitary control.

Problems on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border began in the evening of October 10. Because of the tightening of control at the checkpoints, hundreds of cars have accumulated. Ministry of Emergency Situations forcedly installed tents, where drivers could eat and drink tea. At the checkpoint, ambulances were also on duty. There are reports that the problems of the Kyrgyz truckers arose on the Russian-Kazakh border.
