Atambayev: We do not need $ 100 million assistance from Kazakhstan

President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev commented on the situation on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border today.

«The authorities of Kazakhstan explain the situation by elections in Kyrgyzstan. But other neighbors do not take such measures. A citizen of Kazakhstan died of heart attack while standing in line... What can I say? If the situation after the elections remains the same, I will demand an extraordinary meeting of EEU heads of state. Then it is necessary to decide whether there is EEU or not,» he said.

«I have already said in Astana: this union sometimes reminds me an animal farm from the work of Orwell. One of the characters, a pig, says: «All animals are equal, but someone is more equal.» If this is a union, then all its members should be equal. Otherwise, what kind of union is this? This is not the first time when such actions are aimed at destroying the union. Last year, we gave crazy concessions to Kazakhstan to join the WTO on preferential terms,» the President added.

«Now we are reproached that Kazakhstan will give us $ 100 million in investments. But this agreement was signed as far back as in 2007. Then I suggested to help us with equipment, which they do not need. It is called technical assistance. It was in 2014, and they have waited for three years. Honestly, we do not need this help. It is possible to find the shorthand report of the December meeting in St. Petersburg. We have to give up this help. It is easier to buy this equipment. If it is necessary — I myself will help to find money,» Almazbek Atambayev noted.
