Study to determine attitude of Kyrgyzstanis to vaccination

Kyrgyzstan began a study that will examine the attitude of citizens towards vaccination and the reasons for refusing vaccinations. The director of the Republican Center for Immunoprophylaxis Gulbara Ishenapysova informed 24.kg news agency.

According to her, the research is aimed at young mothers, religious figures, families, who influence young parents and health workers. «It will last a month, and in November the country will prepare a strategic plan for communication, on which our further actions will depend,» the head of the Republican Center said.

«Coverage of all vaccines in the first half of 2017 was 47.9 percent. This is normal. According to the program for the year, coverage should be at least 95 percent. We have this indicator in the range of 97-96 percent. Sometimes it reaches 98 percent,» Gulbara Ishenapysova added.

«Those who refuse are mainly due to religious beliefs, as well as distrust of the quality of the vaccine, lack of information and other reasons. At present, for example, there are cases of parents’ refusals from vaccinations and from viral hepatitis, which are done only in maternity hospitals,» she noted.
