Ban on electric heating in Kyrgyzstan lifted

The ban on electric heating in Kyrgyzstan was lifted and the electricity consumption limits were increased. The head of the National Energy Holding Aibek Kaliev told 24.kg news agency.

According to him, lifting of the ban is caused by presence of reserves. «Earlier, the capacity of the networks didn’t allow it. With the introduction of Datka-Kemin line, the modernization of Bishkek Heating and Power Plant, the accumulation of water in Toktogul reservoir, it became possible to lift the ban,» Aibek Kaliev explained.

Moreover, the energy holding has revised the consumption limits, increasing them by almost 10 percent.

According to the forecasts of power engineers, the accumulated volume of water in Toktogul reservoir (19.5 billion cubic meters) is sufficient for the autumn-winter period. As a result, it became possible to increase the generation of electricity for sale to domestic consumers and exports.
