«30 percent of citizens in Kyrgyzstan die prematurely, not reaching 70 years,» Nurgul Ibraeva, chief specialist of the Department of Medical Aid and Drug Policy of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Health, said at a press conference.

According to her, cardiovascular diseases are the most common cause of death and disability among the able-bodied population of the country. On average, 18,000 people die of heart diseases each year in the republic, stroke and myocardial infarction are among the most common ailments in Kyrgyzstan.

The World Heart Day is celebrated every year on September 29, aimed at informing the population about the threat of cardiovascular diseases and promoting healthy lifestyles.
