More than 35,000 foreigners obtain citizenship of Kyrgyzstan over seven years

Since 2010 till the first half of 2017, 35,110 people obtained citizenship of Kyrgyzstan, the State Registration Service informed 24.kg news agency.

According to it, 90 percent of them are visitors from two countries: Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

The remaining 10 percent are citizens of Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Georgia. Residents of Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, China, Turkey prevail among people from far abroad.

As reported, for the first half of 2017, there were 2,315 applications for obtaining citizenship of the Kyrgyz Republic. It is noted that our citizenship can be obtained in simplified manner by female foreigners and stateless persons who married a Kyrgyz citizen and moved for permanent residence to Kyrgyzstan.

The main reasons for obtaining citizenship, according to the SRS, is moving to a permanent place of residence, marriage, doing business in the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The department has no information on cases of refusal to grant citizenship, the report said.
