More than 57 million soms were allocated by parents in the summer to repair schools in Bishkek. The head of the Bishkek Education Department Saule Meirmanova told today at a press conference.
According to her, the mayor’s office conducts the most expensive works — repair of roofs and internal heating systems. «Today, huge support is rendered by parents, who collect money for ongoing cosmetic repairs in order the child to study in a cozy classroom, with normal lighting, with good windows,» Saule Meirmanova said.
«If earlier 60-70 million soms were allocated for repairs from the city budget, today it is 170 million soms. Approximately 30 percent of schools were constructed in 1936-1953. Of course, all of them require repairs,» head of the department noted.
