Parliament of Kyrgyzstan takes 100th place in world in number of women deputies

According to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the average number of women in parliaments around the world barely exceeds 23 percent.

Kyrgyzstan ranks 100th in this rating.  There are 23 women (19.2 percent) out of 120 deputies in the Parliament.

The leader among the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union is Belarus — 28th  place. There are 110 deputies in the parliament, 38 of them are women (34.5 percent).

Kazakhstan occupies the 57th place. There are 29 women (27.1 percent) out of 107 deputies.

Russia occupies the 127th place. There are only 71 women (15.8 percent) out of 450 deputies.

In terms of the number of women-deputies, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, which occupy 102nd and 122nd places, are even ahead of Russia.

Rwanda (61.3 percent) took the first place in the rating, the second is Bolivia (53.1 percent), the third — Cuba (48.9 percent).
