Government of Kyrgyzstan and Centerra sign new Kumtor agreement

The government of Kyrgyzstan and Centerra signed a new agreement on Kumtor. The document was signed by the Prime Minister Sapar Isakov and Chief Executive Officer Scott Perry.

As Scott Perry noted during the ceremony, taking into account that Kyrgyzstan is in fact the largest shareholder of Centerra, the agreement is of great importance. He congratulated all participants of the talks, «because the agreement is a comprehensive solution to all previously unresolved issues on Kumtor.»

«Centerra assumes important obligations. This is an important step from an economic point of view, because it will improve the investment environment and attract foreign investment in the republic. The agreement embodies the commitments undertaken by Centerra and the government. They are not only a guarantee of economic stability and attraction of investment. Let them also embody the economic well-being and health of Kyrgyz citizens,» Scott Perry summed up.

After signing the agreement, the head of the Cabinet Sapar Isakov and the management of Centerra left for the National Center of Oncology to see progress of the repair work. The company allocated funds for its reconstruction.
