Centerra to allocate $ 10 million for equipment for cancer center

Centerra Gold Inc. will allocate $ 10 million for the purchase of the most modern equipment for the cancer center. This was stated today by the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sapar Isakov. On September 9 he visited Kumtor mine in Issyk-Kul region.

«This is a very important decision, as about 18,000 people die of cancer every year. The funds allocated will be enough to provide the oncology center with all the necessary equipment, among which there will be special equipment that will detect and treat oncology at an early stage,» he stressed. «For this purpose, Centerra Gold Inc. additionally allocates $ 10 million,» the head of the Cabinet added.

Sapar Isakov stressed that the Kyrgyz government is interested in furthering Kumtor’s activity.

The Prime Minister also reported that the Canadian company has agreed to fully implement the recommendations of AMEC, which conducts environmental supervision of all works at Kumtor mine.

"We also agreed that Centerra Gold Inc. will allocate additional funds, preliminary in the amount of $ 10 million, which will be directed to joint geological exploration with the Kyrgyz side.

A separate agreement will be signed on this issue.
