Shavkat Mirziyoyev only four times in fourteen years spoke with prime ministers

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, when he was prime minister, talked with his colleagues from Kyrgyzstan only four times in 14 years. He stated this today at a meeting with the head of the Kyrgyz government Sapar Isakov.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan said that the president had already instructed to implement the agreements reached by the heads of states yesterday. Sapar Isakov promised that together with his Uzbek counterpart Abdulla Aripov they will work quickly and efficiently.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed that he understands how difficult the position of Sapar Isakov is. After all, he himself was prime minister of Uzbekistan for almost 14 years.

«It’s a heavy burden. This post is fatal. The presidents make political decisions, and the prime ministers execute them. And destinies depend on this. We are now improving our relationship. Maybe many didn’t want it. Maybe someone is comfortable with this sluggish situation. They proceed from the «divide and rule» position. But we want another. The border of Uzbekistan with Kyrgyzstan is special. People are tired of wrong decisions. They want to be friends, go to each other’s weddings,» Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
