Ex-speaker of the Kyrgyz parliament Akhmatbek Keldibekov will sue the Central Election Commission.He stated this today at a press conference in 24.kg news agency.
According to him, the CEC violated his — the presidential candidate of the country — rights, refusing to register.
According to him, he fulfilled all the requirements of the Constitution: passed the examination for knowledge of the state language, introduced an electoral deposit of 1 million soms and submitted 54,000 signatures in his support.
But, as Akhmatbek Keldibekov noted, the members of the CEC working group didn’t even check the authenticity of the signature sheets and after 11 days (according to the law, 10 days are given for verification), they recommended to the CEC members to refuse registration, stating that the former parliamentarian has a criminal record .
Akhmatbek Keldibekov stated that his c criminal record expired, since he paid a fine, he wasn’t sentenced to imprisonment and wasn’t convicted of a serious article.
«Therefore, I will sue the CEC, although I know how our courts work. Moreover, we still can’t get a copy of the protocol of the CEC meeting, where a decision on me has been made,» Akhmatbek Keldibekov said.
Earlier, the Supreme Court informed that the criminal record of Akhmatbek Keldibekov will expire on November 8. «By a decision of the Bishkek City Court he was fined 10 million soms. This decision is upheld by the verdict of the Supreme Court of October 13, 2016. The decision to pay the fine was executed on November 8, the Supreme Council explained.
According to the Criminal Code, conviction expires in respect of persons sentenced to milder types of punishment than deprivation of liberty, after a year after serving or execution of punishment. «Thus, the criminal record of Akhmatbek Keldibekov will be repaid on November 8, the Supreme Council of the stressed.
Note, for today the CEC has approved 13 candidates for the presidential post.
The presidential elections will be held on October 15. The agitation will begin on September 10.
