Signature sheets of seven candidates for presidency found valid, the chairman of the Central Election Commission Nurzhan Shaildabekova told at a briefing.

Another 16 applicants are being checked. At the same time, all signatures of Omurbek Tekebayev were found invalid.

By the decision of the Pervomaisky district court, he and ex-head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Duishenkul Chotonov were sentenced to eight years of imprisonment. Note, representatives of the candidate litigate the decision of the CEC to recognize the signatures in support of Tekebayev invalid.

The former speaker of the parliament Akhmatbek Keldibekov was fined 10 million soms for allegedly illegal opening of the special representative office of the parliament in Moscow in 2011. «Until August 31, Keldibekov has time to submit documents on the removal of previous convictions,» CEC head Nurzhan Shaildabekova explained.

Another 26 citizens were denied registration as a presidential candidate, as they didn’t submit a full list of documents. The nine candidates themselves refused to run.

Nurzhan Shaildabekova added that of the 24 candidates who submitted the signature sheets, two (Omurbek Tekebayev and Kanatbek Isayev) are involved in criminal cases. As for Kamchybek Tashiyev, the criminal case was dismissed.
