Kyrgyzstan lost 30 percent of glaciers. And continues to lose

«According to some scientific data, ’s glacier stock has decreased by 30 percent, and according to forecasts, by the end of the XXI century the country can lose 70 percent of the remaining glaciers,» ’s Deputy Economy Minister Daniyar Imanaliev said at the international forum on the conservation of the snow Leopard and its ecosystems.

According to him, due to the reduction of glaciers, the lack of fresh water will be not only in , but also in many parts of the globe.

Touching upon the theme of the forum, the Deputy Minister noted that the habitat of the snow leopard is rapidly decreasing in , which is connected with the reduction of the nutrient medium of the animal, which is inseparably linked with environmental issues.

«In this regard, is working on engaging in global environmental and development movements of the green economy,» Daniyar Imanaliev said.

He noted that in the country there are already projects on «green» investments — drip irrigation, cultivation of organic agricultural products.

Bishkek hosts an international forum for the conservation of the snow leopard and its ecosystems. It is attended by delegates from 12 countries, where snow leopard inhabits.
