Atambayev calls to launch a multi-country project to preserve snow leopard

President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev called on leaders and heads of agencies from countries of the snow leopard habitat to consider and discuss at the international forum the possibility of saving ilbirs with the financial support of the Global Environment Facility. He said this at the international forum on the conservation of wild animals and their ecosystems.

According to the head of state, the multi-country project will unite the efforts of all 12 states of the range for the conservation of snow leopards.

«I hope that the Global Environment Facility will support this initiative, because it is aimed at implementing practical actions to preserve the snow leopard,» Almazbek Atambayev said.

Bishkek hosts the International Forum on the Conservation of the Snow Leopard and Its Ecosystems. Delegates from Russia, India, China, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan take part in the forum.
