Priority in Uzbekistan's foreign policy – countries of Central Asia

Uzbekistan has determined the priority in foreign policy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Kyrgyzstan Komil Rashidov said today at a press conference.

According to him, the president of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced that he focuses on the countries of Central Asia — Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan. The definition of boundaries and distribution of water resources is inextricably linked with the region. On August 11, the conference «Central Asia — the main priority of Uzbekistan’s foreign policy», supported by UNDP and the OSCE was held in Tashkent.

«Any major regional transport, communication and energy projects can’t be realized without the participation of the countries of the region. Peoples unite common spiritual values, common past,» Komil Rashidov said.

He added that Afghanistan can’t be ruled out. Uzbekistan constantly contributes to its restoration.

Recall, a meeting of the intergovernmental commission for bilateral cooperation, delimitation and demarcation of borders took place in Bishkek on August 16. Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov held a number of meetings with the leadership of Kyrgyzstan.
