Dmitry Medvedev: Goods turnover grows due to new Kyrgyz goods

The trade turnover between Russia and Kyrgyzstan is growing due to the production of new Kyrgyz goods. Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev said today at the meeting with the Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbai Jeenbekov.

Within the framework of participation in the regular meeting of the Eurasian intergovernmental council which will be held today, August 14, in Astana, Sooronbai Jeenbekov held a working meeting with Dmitry Medvedev.

«Currently there is an active dynamics of development of cooperation between our countries, constant political contact at a high state level. The signing of a federal law allowing Kyrgyz citizens to use their national driver’s licenses in Russia is also aimed at improving bilateral ties. Taking into account the existing potential for increasing mutual cooperation in various fields, it is necessary to take steps to increase the trade turnover between the countries, which in the first half of 2017 amounted to over $ 500 million. I am sure that by joint efforts we will be able to significantly increase the volumes of mutual trade,» Sooronbai Jeenbekov said.

Dmitry Medvedev noted the importance of developing Kyrgyz-Russian cooperation both in bilateral format and in the format of the Eurasian Economic Union.

«The parties have a clear understanding of the need for constructive dialogue. The main thing is that the joint work carried out meets the national interests of the two countries, contributing to even greater integration. Recently, there has been an increase in mutual trade due to new commodity groups produced in Kyrgyzstan. This is a positive aspect in the framework of bilateral cooperation, which we want to consolidate,» the Russian prime minister stressed.
