Taxi drivers to be trained in first aid in case of traffic accident

The Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan launched a project to train Bishkek taxi drivers in first aid. Press service of the organization reported.

The Red Crescent Society trainers showed the drivers how to pull the victim out of the car, perform artificial respiration and provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation to the injured.

According to the Main Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, since the beginning of 2017, 343 people have died as a result of road traffic accidents. Most of the dead could survive if they were promptly provided with first aid before the ambulance came.

«In most cases, when a traffic accident occurs, first aid is not rendered at the scene of the accident or rendered not in full. This is largely the result of ignorance and inability of road users, road service employees,» the report said.

All Red Crescent Society staff constantly undergoes special training and first aid in emergency situations training.
