Russian air base Kant to host exercises

Russian fighter aircrafts from Sokol airbase flew 4,000 kilometers to Kant airfield in Kyrgyzstan. Russian media reported.

It is noted that MiG-31 fighter-interceptors are being redeployed from the Urals to Kyrgyzstan to participate in joint exercises. They will carry out training and combat missions on air defense jointly with the units of the armed forces of the republic.

«The upgraded MiG-31BM fighter has a modern control system, can simultaneously hit six air targets, including cruise and ballistic missiles," the report said.

According to the assistant to the commander of the troops of the Central Military District, Colonel Yaroslav Roshchupkin, the pilots began training flights in the area of ​​Edelweiss testing site on the shore of Issyk-Kul Lake.

«They will also work out the interception of air targets, complex aerobatics in various weather conditions in conjunction with the crews of reconnaissance, assault and army aviation," Yaroslav Roshchupkin summed up.
