Russian base in Karakol town hosts military exercises

Military exercises were held on the basis of the test site in Karakol. Russian media reported with reference to the official representative of the Central Military District of Russia, Colonel Yaroslav Roshchupkin.

According to him, during the testing of combat readiness of anti-terror forces, Russian servicemen countered the attack of conditional saboteurs at the objects of Karakol marine test site at .

«According to the training plan, three conditional sabotage and terrorist groups invaded the perimeter of the military facility from water and land, trying to seize administrative and storage buildings. The duty forces detected combat swimmers and started a fight," Yaroslav Roshchupkin said.

He explained that reinforcements came to the aid of the military, blocked the attackers, pressing them to the water, and then the militants, who captured the boat, were intercepted by the rapid response marine group.

The Karakol test site is part of the United Russian military base in  and is designed to test sea underwater weapons. It is characterized by unique physical, geographical and hydrological conditions, it allows to carry out research all year round.
