Supporters of the accused of corruption MP Omurbek Tekebayev are now holding rally outside the Central Election Commission building.
They organized the protest because neither the Central Election Commission nor the court can decide the issue on passing the state language exam by the presidential candidate Omurbek Tekebayev.
Previously, lawyers filed a petition to the court to ensure the electoral rights of the defendant. Judge Aybek Ernis uulu refused to grant the petition, and also refused to give Tekebayev’s passport to his lawyers.
Recall, tomorrow, the leader of Ata Meken party must pass the state language exam as the first of the candidates for the presidential post. However, the CEC previously found it difficult to answer how the defendant Tekebayev would be able to take part in the test. He, as is known, is under arrest and is kept in detention center of the State Committee for National Security.
Supporters of the leader of Ata Meken are outraged by the «arbitrariness of the court and the spinelessness of the CEC." They demand to make a decision in accordance with the current election legislation, because the presidential candidate Omurbek Tekebayev is not a convicted person that means that he has equal rights with other candidates for the presidency.
The number of protesters is increasing, but none of the members of the CEC has come out to them so far.
