Ex-head of Osh Internal Affairs Department imprisoned

The former head of the Internal Affairs Department for Osh region was sent to jail. Judicial bench of Osh Regional Court sentenced police colonel Abdylda Kaparov to four years in prison.

Recall, Abdylda Kaparov was arrested on March 25 on charges of calling for the overthrow of power. Abdylda Kaparov was detained after he made a speech at a rally in support of Ata Meken party leader Omurbek Tekebayev in Osh. The investigation was conducted by the prosecutor’s office.

Later, the State Committee for National Security initiated a criminal case against him on tragic events of June 2010, when Abdylda Kaparov headed the Osh Internal Affairs Department.

The police colonel also actively supported Kamchybek Tashiyev, Akmatbek Keldibekov and Melis Myrzakmatov. During one of the protests, he burned the portrait of the President Almazbek Atambayev.

During the trial, 85-year-old mother of Abdylda Kaparov died. However, the court denied the defendants' lawyers petition on changing the measure of restraint and did not allow him to participate in the funeral.
