Prosecutor General's Office of Kyrgyzstan opens criminal case against itself

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Kyrgyzstan opened a criminal case on overestimating the cost of building construction for it in 2011. Press service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

It specified that the case was initiated under articles 221 and 308 (abuse of authority by employees of commercial or other organizations and illegal use of budget funds) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

According to the press service, on July 6, 2011, the Prosecutor General’s Office and Garant Project LLC signed a contract for the development of a project for the construction of an additional building for the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Kyrgyz Republic.

«The cost of construction amounted to more than 236 million soms. At the same time, the documents were not submitted for examination to the Department of State Expertise of the State Construction Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic. Later, the audit of the Accounts Chamber revealed an overestimate of the cost of construction by 93, 625, 300 soms from the amount claimed by Garant Project LLC," the report says.

In addition, illegal use of 9 million soms of budget funds by the Prosecutor General’s Office was revealed during various construction works.

In 2011, the Prosecutor General’s Office was headed by Aida Salyanova, now the deputy of Parliament from Ata Meken faction.
