2,000 Kyrgyzstanis – followers of extremist organizations

Two thousand citizens of  are followers of extremist organizations. Representative of the 10th Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Erlan Bakiyev said at the International Anti-Terrorist Forum in Bishkek.

According to him, from 2010 to 2017, 1,600 extremist crimes were recorded in . «During the current period, 313 facts related to the manifestation of religious extremism were revealed, 102 criminal cases were initiated,» the Interior Ministry representative said.

As he noted, criminal activity related to extremism is manifested in inciting religious hatred, public calls for overthrowing the constitutional foundations of the country, dissemination of extremist materials, including in electronic form. According to him, citizens aged 25 to 30 years take the most active part in extremist movements in .

He also noted that more than 50 extremist and terrorist organizations operate in the SCO countries. «In , courts of various instances forbid the activities of 18 extremist organizations, one destructive sect, materials of Said Buryatsky are banned for distribution,» Erlan Bakiyev said.
