The leader of Ata Meken Omurbek Tekebayev and ex-minister of emergency situations Duishenkul Chotonov remain in custody in GKNB. This is the decision of the Supreme Court adopted today.

The proceedings on the supervisory complaint of Chotonov’s lawyers was also terminated due to the fact that the court’s decision on refusal to change the preventive measure is not subject to appeal, according to the decision of the Bishkek City Court adopted on June 12.

According to the city prosecutor, Chotonov’s lawyer Baktybek Zhumashov unlawfully appealed the decision of the first instance, which left his client in pretrial detention centre of GKNB.

Lawyers claimed that the court went beyond the law and the Criminal Procedure Code. But the decision was made in favor of the prosecutor’s office.

Omurbek Tekebayev and Duishenkul Chotonov are accused of corruption.
