In the first quarter of 2017, maternal mortality in declined by 23.6 percent, the director of the for the Protection of Maternity and Childhood Kamchybek Uzakbayev reported.
According to him, the decrease in the level in comparison with previous years is noted in all regions.
In the structure of the causes of maternal mortality, the first place is taken by extragenital diseases (38.9 percent), followed by sepsis (33.3 percent) and bleeding (23.6 percent).
Doctors associate a high incidence rate with the fact that women are not examined in time before pregnancy, and then don’t register on time.
All cases of maternal mortality are investigated by district, regional and republican commissions.
