Deputies demand resignation of CEC members

The deputy of the Parliament Mirlan Zheenchoroyev proposes to dismiss the members of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda. He stated this today at a session of the Kyrgyz Parliament.

In the first half of the day, the deputies proposed to consider the information of the CEC on the preparation and holding of presidential elections. The deputies found some decisions of the commission illegal.

In afternoon, Vice Speaker Altynay Omurbekova reported that CEC Chairwoman Nurzhan Shaildabekova and her deputies were notified of the meeting and questions of parliamentarians. «We invited them. But they host a press conference. We must give this an assessment," the deputy resented.

Mirlan Zheenchoroyev agreed with her. «The CEC is the body appointed by the Parliament. If they don’t respect us, don’t want to provide information, we must remove them all, including the chairwoman," he said.

CEC Chairwoman Nurzhan Shaildabekova at a press conference asked the deputies to refrain from pressure on the commission.
