Requirements for online stores in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (ЕEU) will be fixed by the legislation. The Eurasian Economic Commission reported.
It is noted that common approaches to the implementation by EEU states of a coordinated policy in the field of consumer protection in the distant sale of goods (works, services) have been approved by the EEC advisory committee.
«The approaches developed by the commission are based on the best national and international practices. We want the consumers of the countries of the union to receive in a timely manner the necessary and reliable information about the goods. This will help them to make the right choice, and will also guarantee the quality of goods purchased via the Internet," Valery Koreshkov, member of EEC Board (Minister) said.
The document actually formed a preliminary list of requirements for online stores in EEU countries. It should contain information about the product (work, service), including information on its main consumer properties and technical characteristics, price and terms of purchase, including the full amount payable by the consumer, information about the warranty period (if any), the service life or the expiry date of the goods.
Prior to the conclusion of sale contract, the buyer will receive information from the Internet seller about the terms and procedure for possible termination of the transaction.
It is proposed to include in the national legislation of EEU countries the provisions allowing equally to ensure the consumer rights of citizens of the countries of the in the territory of each of the member states. There will be also a possibility of remote settlement of disputes and the establishment of requirements for the conditions and procedure of drawing up contracts with the consumer, the font size of the text and information specified in the contracts.
