The 9th Republican Theater Festival was opened in Bishkek. This year it is devoted to the 85th anniversary of the People’s Writer of the Kirghiz SSR, the author of the words Anthem of Kyrgyzstan Jalil Sadykov.
According to the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism, the festival’s goal is to detect new theatrical directions, trends, creative findings, director’s decisions, as well as to preserve theatrical traditions and expand the cultural space.
The unofficial part of the ceremony began at the Kyrgyz National Academic Drama Theater named after T. Abdumomunov, where numerous creative delegations came. They were met by circus and dance groups of Bishkek. After the passage along the red carpet, the official part of the opening began.

The closing of the festival and the awarding of the winners will take place on June 15.
