Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev arrives in Astana for SCO summit

President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev arrived in Astana. At the airport, he was welcomed by the Minister of Finance of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Sultanov and the deputy head of Astana Yermek Amanshaev.

Within the framework of the visit, Almazbek Atambayev will take part in the next meeting of the Council of the Heads of State of the SCO, which will be held in Astana today, on June 9. He will also attend the opening ceremony of the exhibition EXPO 2017, which will be held on June 10.

Note of 24.kg news agency: The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is an international organization, which includes six states — Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, China, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Observers at the SCO are India, Mongolia, Pakistan and Iran. The declaration on the establishment of the SCO was signed at a meeting of the heads of six states in Shanghai on June 15, 2001.
