At least 6,754 citizens of Kyrgyzstan received guaranteed state legal assistance for a total of 19,240,068 soms in 2016. Head of the Ministry of Justice Uran Akhmetov told today at a press conference.

The head of the ministry specified that the state pays for the services of lawyers.

Currently, about 250 people are included in the register of lawyers providing free legal assistance.

«If earlier state legal support was provided to citizens only in criminal cases, now people can get help in civil and administrative cases at all stages of civil, administrative and criminal proceedings," Uran Akhmetov told.

Earlier, the Prime Minister Sooronbay Jeenbekov signed a decree on Establishment of the Center for Coordination of State-Guaranteed Legal Assistance under the Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic.
