UN Secretary-General to take part in 7th anniversary of Osh tragedy 2010

The tour of the UN Secretary -General Antonio Guterres across the countries of Central Asia will start tomorrow, on June 8. He will visit Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. UN press center reported.

The UN Secretary-General will arrive in Astana tomorrow, where he will take part in the events within the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. On June 9, Antonio Guterres plans to meet with the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and make a speech at the SCO plenary session.

On June 10, the UN Secretary-General will arrive in Samarkand, where he will meet with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

On June 11, the Secretary-General will arrive in Bishkek. After a meeting with Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev, Antonio Guterres will visit Osh, where he will take part in events dedicated to the June 2010 events.

Exactly seven years ago this city faced an outbreak of inter-ethnic violence.

On June 12, the UN head will visit Tajikistan, on June 13 — Turkmenistan.

In Dushanbe, Antonio Guterres will speak at a conference on sustainable development, and in Ashgabat he will take part in a high-level dialogue, dedicated to the implementation of the strategy for combating terrorism in Central Asia.
