Prosecutor General's Office of Kyrgyzstan withdraws claims to Azattyk

The Kyrgyz Prosecutor General’s Office petitions for the withdrawal of lawsuits against Azattyk, its representative Ruslan Abdyrakhmanov said today at a court hearing, where the claims of the supervisory authority are considered against the lawyers of Ata Meken leader Omurbek Tekebayev, Zanoza.kg website and journalist Naryn Aiyp about the protection of the honor and dignity of President Almazbek Atambayev.

According to Ruslan Abdyrakhmanov, on May 13, a message of Almazbek Atambayev appeared on the website president.kg that he is ready to withdraw the claim for Azattyk to the amount of 20 million soms. Representatives of the State Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic also ask the court to withdraw financial claims against Azattyk, arrest from its property and accounts. The court granted the petition.

Then the court proceeded to consider the first lawsuit against Zanoza.kg, Naryn Aiyp and Tekebayev’s lawyers — Taailigul Toktakunova and Kanatbek Aziz. They are accused of spreading false information about the cargo on board the family of Almazbek Atambayev, who crashed in Turkey in January.
