Prime Minister suggests World Bank to increase funding for Digital CASA

At the meeting with Prime Minister Sooronbay Zheenbekov, the regional director of the World Bank for Central Asia Liliya Burunchuk introduced the new head of the office in Kyrgyzstan Bolormaa Amgaabagazar, the information department of the government reported.

According to it, at the meeting, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers noted that the draft Strategy for Development 2040 is currently being developed, on the basis of which the work on preparation of the medium-term Development Program of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2018–2022 will begin. He called on the World Bank to take an active part in developing strategies and to consider providing technical support and assistance in financing the program’s projects.

In addition, Sooronbay Jeenbekov spoke about «Taza Koom» project and suggested the World Bank to consider the possibility of increasing the previously approved amount for financing activities under the Digital CASA project from $ 20 to $ 50 million.

Liliya Burunchuk noted that the bank would necessarily consider the possibility of expanding the financing of activities within the framework of «Taza Koom» project.
