Bishkek marks 18th anniversary of border troops of Kyrgyzstan

On May 28, Bishkek marked the 18th anniversary of the creation of the border troops of Kyrgyzstan. Solemn ceremony was held in the Victory Park named after Dair Asanov.

As the press service of the service reported, as of today, border guards defend a total of 4,671 kilometers of the state border, the longest border is with the Republic of Uzbekistan — 1, 375 kilometers.

«18 years is a hard, difficult way for frontier troops. In 1999, when there was a difficult situation in Batken, Chon-Alai and Chotkal — there were no outposts at all in these areas. As of today, borders are constantly guarded throughout the country’s perimeter, day and night," the Commander of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic Raimberdi Duishenbiev said.

According to the press service of the agency, the peak of border incidents occurred in 2014, when 40 emergency situations were recorded.

In 2015, there was a decline — 22 incidents occurred. Decrease is achieved through interregional cooperation.

In addition, border guards are constantly fighting with smuggling. The greatest amount of illegal transportation is on the part of fuel and lubricants.
