Prime Ministers of EEU in Kazan discuss digital economy and internal barriers

Prime Ministers of the Eurasian Economic Union countries at a meeting of the intergovernmental council in Kazan (Tatarstan, Russia) discussed the digital economy and trade barriers that arise on the domestic market of the union. The head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov said at a briefing following the meeting.

According to him, the heads of government discussed in details the development of the digital space. He is confident that this will contribute to the transition of our countries to a new level of economic, technological and social development. Taking into account the significance of the agro-industrial complex for all the EEU countries, the prime ministers agreed to organize joint research and development activities in this area. Also, the coordination of specific subsidies for industrial products within the framework of the EEU agreed.

«We also discussed the removal of obstacles in the functioning of the internal market of the EEU. For today, joint work continues on the development of the «single window» mechanism in the system of regulation of foreign economic activity in our countries. General attitudes testify to the growing potential and capabilities of the EEU. I hope that the documents adopted and signed today will contribute to the development of further cooperation," Sooronbay Jeenbekov said.

Following the meeting, the prime ministers signed:

— Order of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council «On the annual report of the Eurasian Economic Commission on monitoring the assessment of the regulatory impact of EEC draft decisions in 2016»;

— Agreement on the procedure for the voluntary harmonization of specific subsidies for manufactured goods by member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union with EEC and the conduct by the EEC of proceedings related to their provision;

— Instruction of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council «On the state of development of the «Single Window» mechanism in the system of regulation of foreign economic activity in the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union»;

— Order of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council «On the time and place of the regular meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.»
